IRON WOODS 12"X12" IPE DECK TILE
Iron Woods® 12? x 12? Ipe Deck Tiles attach to one another using our interlocking sub-system. The only limit to what they can do is your imagination. Each system is customizable to the measurements and desired layout of your deck’s footprint – including inside and outside corner pieces and transition edging. Tiles can be laid in both mosaic and straight board patterns, depending on your taste. While setup is relatively easy, don’t let the simplicity fool you. This stuff is strong. Each Iron Woods® Deck Tile System is made with world renowned Iron Woods® Ipe. Iron Woods® Deck Tiles were developed to ensure easy installation. To assemble, simply lay out your tile pattern, line up the interlocking quick connectors and press the tiles together. Our floating design requires no nails or adhesives and allows for proper drainage. The Iron Woods® Deck Tiles system comes prefinished with our First Coat wood sealer. To preserve the natural color of your tiles, all that’s required is to reapply a clear penetrating oil-based sealer as needed.
Iron Woods Elevations 24"x24" Ipe Deck Tiles
Roof decks and other poorly ventilated deck applications present a unique set of challenges for a designer and or builder. The Iron Woods® Elevations™ Roof Deck System was developed to provide a stable wood deck surface for poorly ventilated roof decks, they are the ideal solution for any deck construction where there is a lack of good ventilation. When constructing a roof deck the designer must take into account many factors including the need to create a level deck on a sloped surface, effective drainage, roof access for maintenance, typically poor under-deck ventilation, variable load requirements, and the possible integration of green roof systems and installed system costs. Iron Woods® Elevations™ self-levelling pedestals, deck tiles, and conventional deck systems provide unique and cost-effective solutions for the construction of both rooftop and conventional decks. Iron Woods® Elevations™ Deck Tiles also provide a simple, elegant, unique and high-value alternative to traditional decking to new deck construction. Simply double the joists (the lowest cost item in your deck construction) at 24” on centre and lay the prefabricated deck tiles in a mosaic or linear pattern and fasten to joists with one screw or screw and plug per corner. That’s one screw per square foot of decking which represents a significant installation labour and material cost compared with conventional decking applications.

PEDESTAL OPTIONS
POCO Building Supplies offers several pedestal options based on surface and elevation requirements. Ground level or Free Floating applications can be installed on flexible rubber pads, that provide sound deadening qualities and creates a soft feel for walking. Pedestals can be utilized for projects that require tile elevation heights from 1-3/4” up to 36” and loads up to 2000lbs per pedestal.
EPDM Pedestals with spacer
This free-floating 1/4” fixed height pedestal incorporates spacer tabs. The flexible EPDM rubber is resistant to environmental deterioration and is safe for direct contact with the roof surface. Additionally, it has sound deadening qualities and creates a soft feel for walking. This pedestal is not stackable and must be considered for low elevation support requirements only. Pedestals are pre-cut and can easily be separated into halves or quarters to facilitate perimeter and corner placement.
Elevations™ Deck Tile Head
An anti-noise bi-component soft rubber pad and special connection pins are integrated into our unique self-leveling head design. When installed a mechanical connection between the tiles and the head seamlessly integrates all components of the system.
Elevations™ Star Pedestal System with Eterno™ Technology
Elevations™ New Star Pedestal System Provides a unique solution when your project requires pedestals under 1-1/4”. While the Start Pedestal System does not incorporate self–leveling technology, the Star T Pedestals unique design and key slot provides post installation micro adjustment from 3/8” to 9/16”. Combined with our 3/16” stackable Star B Base pedestals any required pedestal height can be met from 3/8” to 1-1/4” where our self-leveling ELVSEO pedestal takes over.
Elevations™ Self Leveling Pedestal System with Eterno™ Technology
Elevations™ self-levelling pedestals with built-in slope compensation offer a uniquely simple solution. The system combines supporting base, extension, screw and head options which generate pedestal heights from 1.125” to 21.75” and slopes from 5/32’’ to ½’’ (0% to 5%) per foot of a slope. Pedestals are placed on a 24” grid. Our adjustment key allows for final micro adjustments after installation. Our screw block system indicates when units have safely reached their maximum height adjustment. Bases are pre-cut to facilitate perimeter and corner placement. The Elevations™ self-levelling pedestals incorporate shims to compensate for any minor variations in deck tile thickness. Shims are provided in 1/8” or 1/16” thicknesses.

DO YOU OFFER TILES WITH A GROOVED SURFACE FOR TRACTION?
No. Iron Woods Ipe Deck Tiles are only offered with a smooth deck board surface and are ADA slip resistance compliant. Contrary to popular belief – Grooved decking surfaces do not increase traction and are therefore not recommended.
Why no Grooves?
- Grooved surfaces do not improve slip resistance.
- Grooved surfaces support the collection of food and dirt which encourages the growth of mould and fungi which actually increase slipperiness.
- Grooved surfaces are more difficult to clean.
- Grooved surfaces provide less stability when walking in high heeled shoes.
CAN I APPLY A NON SLIP COATING?
We do not recommend applying anti-slip coatings to any Ipe Hardwood. Due to the incredible density of this tropical hardwood, thick coatings that hold traction material (like sand or ground nut-shells) do not penetrate and bond with the wood fiber, so will almost certainly peel. Ipe is naturally resistant to rot, fungus and decay – and periodic or seasonal cleaning with products like Penofin Wood Cleaner or Penofin Wood Brightener will help keep the surface safe as well as improve the overall appearance. To enhance the appearance and performance of Ipe, apply a single, thin coat of Penofin Hardwood Oil each season (or as required). As products like Penofin contain mildewcides, oiling the wood periodically may also prevent organic growth on the surface of the wood.

DO YOU OFFER FREE FREIGHT?
Unlike some of our competitors, we do not offer ‘FREE’ freight anywhere in Canada. This is a false benefit used by certain online retailers in the US, in an attempt to sweeten the deal to Canadian customers. If you read the fine print, ‘FREE’ freight does not cover costly Phytosanitary Inspection fees and Customs Duties charged at the Canadian Border, that you will almost certainly incur when shopping online with the other guys. We also deal in Canadian Dollars, so the currency conversion for Imported Hardwoods is already factored into our prices. We do charge freight on certain orders, usually, around $150 but up to $500 in some cases for unique shipments and this fee is to cover the costs of transportation of LTL truckloads and brokerage fees. However, we are always up-front about these additional charges where applicable and with POCO Building Supplies there’s no fine print to fall foul of.
